Clinical Nurse Specialist – Paediatric Mental Health Permanent Full Time | Up to 76 hours per fortnight | Tasmania
Salary: $109,767 – $115,813 + 12% superannuation + applicable allowances
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with paediatric mental health experience to join a supportive multidisciplinary team within a specialist paediatric inpatient setting in North West Tasmania.

About the roleYou will work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Mental Health within a 16-bed paediatric inpatient unit caring for children and young people aged 0–17 years across a broad range of presentations, including general paediatrics, surgical, orthopaedic and acute mental health care.
Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical care and contribute to the delivery of safe, person-centred and recovery-oriented mental health services.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing acute inpatient mental health care coordination for paediatric consumers.
- Completing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and ongoing mental state assessments.
- Providing therapeutic engagement and evidence-informed psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Monitoring and reviewing responses to treatment and adjusting care in collaboration with the MDT.
- Working closely with children, young people, families and carers using a trauma-informed approach.
- Providing clinical leadership and expert nursing knowledge within the team.
- Supporting the implementation of clinical standards, policies and best-practice care.
- Assisting senior nursing and medical staff with the effective coordination of clinical resources.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative and supportive team culture.
You will bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Current Working with Children Registration.
- Experience in paediatric mental health or a strong background in child and adolescent mental health nursing.
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication and therapeutic engagement skills.
- A commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred and recovery-oriented practice.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong clinical judgement and the confidence to provide leadership within your scope of practice.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications, or currently working towards them.
- Previous clinical leadership experience.
- Permanent full-time position, up to 76 hours per fortnight.
- $109,767 – $115,813 per annum + 12% superannuation.
- Potential postgraduate qualification allowance of up to 10%, depending on qualification.
