Clinical Nurse / Registered Nurse – Infection Prevention & Control
(4-Month Contract)

We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) clinician to join our team on a 4-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for either a suitably qualified Clinical Nurse (CN/CNS) or an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with demonstrated IPC experience to lead and support infection prevention initiatives across our integrated health and aged care service.

About the Role
Working closely with the Health Manager and Governance Team, you will coordinate and support the Infection Prevention and Control Program. You will provide expert clinical advice, education, surveillance, auditing, outbreak management, and quality improvement activities to ensure compliance with national standards and best practice IPC principles.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading infection prevention and control activities across the service
  • Conducting IPC audits, surveillance, and reporting
  • Supporting compliance with NSQHS Standard 3 and relevant accreditation requirements
  • Providing education, coaching, and clinical support to staff
  • Leading and coordinating outbreak preparedness and response activities
  • Monitoring healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
  • Maintaining vaccination compliance records and IPC documentation
  • Participating in governance and quality committees
  • Driving continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice
About YouTo be successful, you will possess:
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration nursing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Infection Prevention and Control
  • Completion of IPC education such as ACIPC Foundations Program, Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control, or equivalent qualification
  • Strong knowledge of infection control standards, surveillance, auditing, and outbreak management
  • Excellent communication, education, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Current driver's licence
Desirable
  • Previous experience in rural, remote, aged care, or multipurpose health services
  • Experience with accreditation processes and quality improvement programs
  • Clinical Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist experience
