Our client, a leading national private hospital operator, is seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse Unit Manager to take the reins of a well-established Mental Health Unit at a highly regarded private hospital in Sydney's Hills District.

This is a rare opportunity for a nurse leader who is ready to step into a hands-on management role, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team and executive leadership to deliver outstanding, patient-centred mental health care.

About the Opportunity Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day clinical and operational leadership of the unit. You'll be trusted to build and inspire a high-performing nursing team, drive quality and safety outcomes, and play a genuine role in shaping the future direction of the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong clinical and operational leadership across the Mental Health Unit
  • Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary nursing team
  • Champion safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care
  • Drive quality improvement, accreditation and clinical governance initiatives
  • Manage workforce planning, budgets, rostering and patient flow
  • Build strong relationships with VMOs, executives and external stakeholders
  • Oversee risk management, incident review and patient safety processes
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
What You'll Bring
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Postgraduate qualification/certificate in Mental Health Nursing
  • Proven leadership experience within a mental health setting
  • Strong working knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • A track record in quality improvement and clinical governance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and lead change
