Registered Nurse – Grade 3 | Mental Health Newtown, Hobart TAS

We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Grade 3 to join the Continuing Care Stream – Hobart & Southern Mental Health Services on a locum contract basis.
This role is ideal for a clinician with strong community mental health experience who is confident managing complex caseloads and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
About the Role Based at the Carruthers Building, St John’s Park, Newtown, you will provide specialised mental health assessments, assertive case management and recovery-focused care to consumers with complex mental health needs in a community setting.
You will act as a key clinical resource to nursing, medical and allied health staff while supporting consumers, carers and external providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated patient caseload within the community mental health setting
- Deliver recovery-focused mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions
- Provide assertive care coordination and case management
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, GPs, carers and external service providers
- Participate in the team duty roster
- Support and educate consumers and carers
- Work collaboratively as an active member of the mental health team
- Undertake additional duties within the scope and classification of the role
- Current AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated mental health nursing experience
- Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work autonomously within a community setting
- Dates: 15/06/2026 – 12/07/2026
- Hours: 76 hours per fortnight
- Roster: Monday to Friday
- Shift Times: 8:30am – 5:06pm with 1 hour lunch break
- No planned leave approvals due to rostering requirements
