Theatre Technician – Grade 4 (Permanent, 0.8 EFT)
Central Gippsland Health – Sale, Gippsland, Victoria
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30 (rotating Monday – Friday roster)
On-Call: One full weekend per month (Fri night, Sat & Sun)
About the Role
Central Gippsland Health is seeking an experienced Grade 4 Theatre Technician to join our dynamic perioperative services team in Sale, Victoria. This permanent part-time position (0.8 EFT) offers stable employment, supportive leadership, and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care within our busy operating theatres.
As a Grade 4 Theatre Technician, you will apply advanced technical skills and theatre knowledge to support safe and efficient surgical services. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses and broader theatre staff to ensure equipment readiness, case-flow efficiency, and compliance with all organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced theatre technical support across a range of surgical specialties
  • Ensure all theatre equipment, instruments and technology are prepared, maintained, and functioning correctly
  • Assist with patient positioning, theatre setup and turnaround
  • Maintain aseptic standards and support infection control protocols
  • Participate in monthly on-call weekend coverage
  • Contribute to safe workflows, troubleshooting and escalation processes
  • Support theatre educators and senior staff with equipment training where required
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support (HLT47515)
    OR equivalent qualification from a recognised training provider
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Theatre Technician
  • Demonstrated competency in perioperative equipment handling, safety procedures, and sterile environments
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Mandatory Requirements
  • Completion of Central Gippsland Health online compliance modules
  • Participation in hospital induction and annual mandatory competency updates
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current immunisation and pre-employment requirements as per organisational policy
Rostering & On-Call
  • 08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday
  • 0.8 EFT permanent
  • Monthly weekend on-call: Friday night, Saturday, Sunday
  • Additional allowances apply per EBA for on-call and penalty times
